I think I've entered an "era" of my life where I feel quite settled. I don't have the adventurous goals I once had in my youth. Now my intentions are closer to what I already live --- a lot of home time, watching over my near and dear ones, traveling when it gets too cold here at home, involvement with a community that shares some of my own views on life, love, government, and personal development.

Mon idée du fun

... a lot slower than what my idea of fun was a few years ago. But I still like to get out to hoot and squeal with friends. Lately I've been going to Martini Lounge (one of the bi-annual events in this small rural island community I live in), hauntings (a pre-Halloween event in our local provincial park), running off to the "bigger" island to play with other members of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism)-- a medieval society. Yep -- most of the fun I like involves dressing up in costumes or unusual garb. In my twenties and thirties it was dressing up in fetish gear for the Bettie Paige, and other alternative parties in Vancouver. That's a bit beyond me know, but it sure was fun.

While I'm out with someone I am just getting to know I watch for body language --- are they looking at me -- or are they looking at everything else walking by in heels and a skirt? I listen to the way he speaks, not just WHAT he is saying -- the words he chooses, whether he interrupts me mid-sentence, and underlying attitudes that might tell me what is REALLY important to him.

I can be friends with ALMOST anyone but, if you are someone I'm hoping to date, there needs to be some alchemical reaction happening for me. What you look like isn't the determining factor, though it won't hurt a bit if you happen to be an Adonis, or his runner-up. I'm also attracted to the way a man touches me while we chat; intelligence; gentlemanly skill; interests (BEYOND the sport fields, if you please); --- sometimes it's something as base and primitive as physical strength (hey, so I'm human okay?)
